All-Inclusive directional module helps to proactively identify potencial collision risk
A major operator in the Permian Basin depends on its planning and directional drillers to adhere to its anti-collision policy. During operations, the intermediate gyro on one well shifted the intermediate TD 41 feet east and 12 feet north, placing it outside the intended kick-off point target area. Despite using their company's software for anti-collision monitoring, the third-party directional drillers failed to import a horizontal offset that now intersected the well path beyond the planned kick-off point window. These offsets were initially imported at the start of the well and were considered valid as long as the target windows were respected.

Using AI Driller’s projections and anti-collision alerts, the drilling engineer quickly identified the issue early in the curve and raised concerns with the directional drillers about their strategy. The directional drillers had not considered the horizontal producer in their planning. After uploading the problematic well, they adjusted the trajectory with a left turn to avoid the offset. The curve was successfully landed as planned, without violating the operator’s anti-collision policy.
